Oλοκληρώθηκε, χωρίς προβλήματα, η επιχείρηση μετεγκατάστασης των μεταναστών από το Πεδίον του Άρεως σε ειδικά διαμορφωμένο χώρο στον Ελαιώνα, της ευρύτερης περιοχής του Βοτανικού. Πριν από λίγο αναχώρησε από την οδό Μαυρομματαίων, η οποία είχε κλείσει για την ασφαλή επιβίβασή τους, το τελευταίο όχημα της Πυροσβεστικής Υπηρεσίας, το οποίο χρησιμοποιήθηκε για τη μεταφορά τους.

Σύμφωνα με την αστυνομία, στο σύνολό τους μεταφέρθηκαν τελικά 171 άτομα, με πέντε λεωφορεία της εν λόγω Υπηρεσίας, ενώ 30 αρνήθηκαν να ακολουθήσουν και παραμένουν στο Πεδίον του Άρεως. Να σημειωθεί ότι ο αριθμός των καταγεγραμμένων στο Πεδίον του Άρεως προσφύγων ανερχόταν στους 295. Η περιοχή στη συνέχεια θα καθαριστεί από τις υπηρεσίες του δήμου Αθηναίων, για να παραδοθεί στους επισκέπτες της. Παράλληλα θα αστυνομεύεται προκειμένου να αποτραπεί η προσέλευση άλλων μεταναστών, στους οποίους, όπως αναφέρουν σχετικές πληροφορίες, θα συστήνεται να πηγαίνουν στις εγκαταστάσεις του Βοτανικού. Η επιχείρηση ξεκίνησε σταδιακά στις 16:30, με τους πρόσφυγες να μετεγκαθίστανται σε οικόπεδο του Ελαιώνα εκτάσεως περίπου 40 στρεμμάτων και σε απόσταση από τις κατοικημένες περιοχές. Ο χώρος μπορεί να φιλοξενήσει από 540 έως 720 άτομα και σε αυτόν έχουν τοποθετηθεί 90 κοντέινερ που κάθε ένα μπορεί να φιλοξενήσει από 6 έως 8 άτομα.
