Ο Max Verstappen, μόλις μία εβδομάδα μετά την πικρή εγκατάλειψη του στην πρεμιέρα του πρωταθλήματος, κατέκτησε την πρώτη νίκη της χρονιάς, την πρώτη με το Νο1 στο μονοθέσιο του, με διαφορά μόλις μισού δευτερολέπτου από τον Charles Leclerc.

Υιοθέτησε τακτική υπομονής, σύμφωνα με την ομάδα του, και περιόρισε τις μάχες με τον Leclerc στους τελευταίους επτά γύρους. Άλλαξε αρκετές φορές θέση με τον πιλότο της Ferrari και υπερέχοντας στις ευθείες κατάφερε να διατηρηθεί στην πρώτη θέση, μέχρι το πέσιμο της καρό σημαίας, στο δεύτερο αγώνα της χρονιάς, στη Σαουδική Αραβία.

Ο Leclerc έκανε ό,τι μπορούσε, είχε επιλέξει να στήσει τη Ferrari ώστε να είναι γρήγορη στις 27 στροφές της πίστας, και αμέσως μόλις έπεσε η καρό σημαία συνεχάρη τον Verstapen. Συνεχίζει να προηγείται στη βαθμολογία έχοντας μία πρώτη και μία δεύτερη θέση.

Ο Sainz έφερε τη δεύτερη Ferrari στο βάθρο, τερματίζοντας τρίτος έχοντας και αυτός δώσει μάχες με μία Red Bull, αυτή του Perez. Ξεκινώντας από την pole position, o Perez προηγήθηκε μέχρι να μπει για αλλαγή ελαστικών και στάθηκε άτυχος όταν αμέσως μετά, μπήκε στην πίστα το αυτοκίνητο ασφαλείας.

Ο Lewis Hamilton ξεκινώντας 15ος πήρε ρίσκο με τη στρατηγική του, φάνηκε να είναι άτυχος αλλά τελικά κατάφερε να πάρει τον ένα βαθμό της 10ης θέσης.
