Έκρηξη εμπρηστικού μηχανισμού αποτελούμενου από γκαζάκια και εύφλεκτο υγρό σημειώθηκε λίγο πριν τις 5 τα ξημερώματα της Τρίτης (4/10) σε καφετέρια στην οδό Σοφοκλή Βενιζέλου, στο Περιστέρι.

Από την έκρηξη προκλήθηκαν σοβαρές υλικές ζημιές τόσο στον εξωτερικό χώρο όσο και εντός του καταστήματος, ενώ χρειάστηκε η παρέμβαση της Πυροσβεστικής για να σβήσει η φωτιά.

Σύμφωνα με αυτόπτες μάρτυρες δύο άγνωστοι άντρες, προσέγγισαν με αυτοκίνητο την επιχείρηση στην οδό Σοφοκλή Βενιζέλου. Ο ένας κατέβηκε, έσπασε με πέτρα την γυάλινη πόρτα της εισόδου και πέταξε στο εσωτερικό του καφέ μπαρ εμπρηστικό μηχανισμό. Όπως ανέφερε ένας από τους μάρτυρες ακούστηκαν 2-3 εκρήξεις, ενώ από το μπαλκόνι του είδε να φεύγει ένα άτομο με μαύρη κουκούλα και ένα ασημί αμάξι τον περίμενε και το οποίο μόλις μπήκε ο δράστης έφυγε με ταχύτητα προς Πειραιά.
Οι δράστες φεύγοντας πήραν μαζί τους και το καταγραφικό της επιχείρησης, ώστε να μην υπάρχει οπτικό υλικό των ενεργειών τους.

Στο σημείο έφτασε κλιμάκιο της πυροσβεστικής για να ελέγξει την φωτιά. Οι αρχές συγκεντρώνουν οπτικό υλικό από κάμερες ασφαλείας της περιοχής, προκειμένου να βρουν στοιχεία για τους δράστες. Τα υπολείμματα του μηχανισμού περισυνέλλεξε και ερευνά ομάδα του Τμήματος Εξουδετέρωσης Εκρηκτικών Μηχανισμών, ενώ προανάκριση για την υπόθεση διενεργεί η Κρατική Ασφάλεια.
