Η αγάπη για ζωή φέρνει μακροζωία

Οι άνθρωποι που για πολλά χρόνια και έως τα γεράματά τους απολαμβάνουν τη ζωή τους, έχουν μικρότερη πιθανότητα να πεθάνουν πρόωρα και τείνουν να ζουν περισσότερα χρόνια, σύμφωνα με μια νέα βρετανική επιστημονική έρευνα.

Ουσιαστικά η μελέτη επιβεβαιώνει ανάλογα ευρήματα προηγούμενων ερευνών, που δείχνουν ότι η ικανοποίηση από τη ζωή συνδέεται με τη μακροζωία.

Οι ερευνητές, με επικεφαλής τον Άντριου Στεπτόου του Τμήματος Επιδημιολογίας και Δημόσιας Υγείας του University College του Λονδίνου (UCL, που έκαναν τη σχετική δημοσίευση στο βρετανικό ιατρικό περιοδικό «British Medical Journal», ανέλυσαν στοιχεία για περίπου 9.400 άνδρες και γυναίκες με μέση ηλικία 63 ετών.

Διαπιστώθηκε ότι για όσο μεγαλύτερο χρονικό διάστημα ένας άνθρωπος νιώθει ευχαριστημένος από τη ζωή του, τόσο πιο πολλά χρόνια μπορεί να ζήσει.

Η μελέτη διαπίστωσε ότι οι γυναίκες αναφέρουν συχνότερα από ό,τι οι άνδρες ικανοποίηση από τη ζωή τους, όπως επίσης και οι παντρεμένοι και των δύο φύλων, οι πιο μορφωμένοι, οι πιο πλούσιοι, οι πιο νέοι και όσοι έχουν δουλειά.

Ο κίνδυνος πρόωρου θανάτου από οποιαδήποτε αιτία είναι μειωμένος κατά 24% κατά μέσο όρο μεταξύ όσων νιώθουν μεγάλη ευχαρίστηση στη ζωή τους, σε σχέση με όσους δηλώνουν ότι «ποτέ ή σπάνια» έχουν νιώσει ευχαρίστηση.
