Υπόθεση: Ο Στίβεν και η Άννα, ένας καρδιοχειρουργός και μία οφθαλμίατρος, είναι ένα ευκατάστατο και καταξιωμένο επαγγελματικά ζευγάρι, που ζει ευτυχισμένο με τα δυο τους παιδιά, τη δεκατετράχρονη Κιμ και τον δωδεκάχρονο Μπομπ. Όταν ο Στίβεν αναπτύσσει φιλική σχέση με τον Μάρτιν, ένα δεκαεξάχρονο αγόρι, ορφανό από πατέρα, και τον συστήσει στην οικογένειά του, τα πράγματα παίρνουν ολέθρια τροπή.

Η σκηνοθετική επιστροφή του Γιώργου Λάνθιμου μετά τις επιτυχίες «Κυνόδοντας» και «Αστακός», έρχεται με το Βραβείο Σεναρίου για τον ίδιο και τον Ευθύμη Φιλίππου, στο 70ό Φεστιβάλ των Καννών.

Η ταινία ήταν υποψήφια και για τον Χρυσό Φοίνικα, ενώ στα Ευρωπαϊκά Βραβεία Κινηματογράφου ήταν υποψήφια σε τρεις κατηγορίες: σκηνοθέτη, σεναριογράφου και Α΄ Ανδρικού Ρόλου (Κόλιν Φάρελ).
