Αναβιώνει το έθιμο «Κόλντι Μπάμπω» στην Βραχιά

Αυτό το Σάββατο 24 Δεκεμβρίου στην Δημοτική Κοινότητα της Βραχιάς αναβιώνει το έθιμο «Κόλντι Μπάμπω» στο προαύλιο της Δημοτικής Κοινότητας της Βραχιάς από τον Μορφωτικό & Πολιτιστικό Σύλλογο Βραχιάς υπό την αιγίδα του Δήμου Δέλτα.

Φέτος αναβιώνει το έθιμο αυτό για πέμπτη συνεχόμενη χρόνια την παραμονή των Χριστουγέννων. Κατά την αναβίωση του εθίμου, λέγονται πρώτα τα κάλαντα το απόγευμα της παραμονής των Χριστουγέννων από παιδιά και νέους του συλλόγου και αμέσως μετά ανάβουν φωτιές στον κοινό προαύλιο χώρο της Κοινότητας και του Συλλόγου και ακολουθεί γλέντι.

Το έθιμο «Κόλντι Μπάμπω»

Τα έθιμα και οι παραδόσεις ενός τόπου μαρτυρούν τις βαθύτερες ανησυχίες των ανθρώπων και έχουν τις ρίζες τους βαθιά πίσω στο χρόνο. Το «Κόλντι Μπάμπω» είναι ένα ιδιαίτερα προσφιλές έθιμο στην ευρύτερη  περιοχή  της Μακεδονίας.

Η ονομασία του σημαίνει «σφάζουν, γιαγιά!» και σύμφωνα με αυτό οι κάτοικοι άναβαν το βράδυ της 23ης Δεκεμβρίου φωτιές (Τζαμάλα) και φώναζαν «Κόλντι Μπάμπω» δηλαδή «σφάζουν, γιαγιά!» για να μάθουν οι άνθρωποι για τη σφαγή του Ηρώδη και να προστατευτούν.

Το “Κόλντι Μπάμπω” φυσικά δεν είναι τίποτα περισσότερο από τα κάλαντα στη γιαγιά, μια φράση που είναι γνωστή σε πάρα πολλές περιοχές της Ελλάδας και την συναντούμε όχι μόνο στην Μακεδονία αλλά και στην Θράκη. Τα κάλαντα  ψάλλονταν άλλοτε από παιδιά, άλλοτε από νέους τις πρώτες μικρές ώρες της παραμονής ενώ δέχονταν για κέρασμα γλυκίσματα, καρύδια, κάστανα και κρασί. Δεν είναι, όμως, μόνο οι χορωδίες που διαφοροποιούνται ανάλογα με τον τόπο αλλά και το περιεχόμενο του τραγουδιού.

Στην περιοχή, τα κάλαντα που λέγονται είναι:

Κι ο Χριστός γεννιέται

Γεννιέται και λατρεύεται στο γάλα και στο μέλι

Το μέλι το τρων οι άρχοντες το γάλα οι αφεντάδες»
