Σοκ προκαλεί πείραμα που προβλήθηκε στην ιαπωνική τηλεόραση και δείχνει πόσο επικίνδυνα είναι τα μικροσταγονίδια στην εξάπλωση του κορονοϊού. Ο κίνδυνος είναι ακόμη μεγαλύτερος για όσους συνυπάρχουν σε ένα μικρό χώρο με κάποιον που έχει προσβληθεί, καθώς ακόμη και το απλό βήξιμο έχει ως αποτέλεσμα να εξαπλώνονται εκατό χιλιάδες σταγονίδια και να αιωρούνται για αρκετά λεπτά.

Μάλιστα το φτέρνισμα και ο βήχας φαίνεται να μην είναι οι μοναδικοί τρόποι μετάδοσης του ιού. Σύμφωνα με Ιάπωνες ερευνητές, σταγονίδια εκτοξεύονται ακόμη και όταν δύο άτομα συνομιλούν, ενώ βρίσκονται σε κοντινή απόσταση.

Οι ειδικοί εκτιμούν, ότι ακόμη και τα πιο μικρά σε μέγεθος σταγονίδια μπορεί να ευθύνονται για την εξάπλωση του ιού. Όπως επισημαίνουν “Τα μικροσταγονίδια μεταφέρουν πολλούς ιούς. Τα παράγουμε όταν μιλάμε δυνατά ή αναπνέουμε βαριά. Οι άνθρωποι γύρω μας τα εισπνέουν και με αυτόν τον τρόπο μεταδίδεται ο ιός”

Ο κίνδυνος είναι μεγάλος, όπως δείχνουν πειράματα, για όσους συνυπάρχουν σε μικρό χώρο με κάποιον που έχει προσβληθεί από τον ιό. Όταν αυτός βήχει, 100 χιλιάδες μικροσταγονίδια εκτοξεύονται και εξαπλώνονται στο χώρο. Το ιδιαίτερα ανησυχητικό είναι πως, όπως διαπιστώνεται, τα μικροσταγονίδια εξακολουθούν να αιωρούνται έως και 20 λεπτά αργότερα γύρω του.
