Ο Γκάρυ (Ταχάρ Ραχίμ), 28 χρονών είναι από τους ανθρώπους που δεν περιμένουν τίποτα από κανέναν και ζουν την ζωή τους στα άκρα χωρίς φόβο. Πιάνει δουλειά σε ένα εργοστάσιο πυρηνικής ενέργειας, πεπεισμένος ότι εκεί θα βρει αυτό που ψάχνει: νόημα στη ζωή του, χρήματα, αλλά και μια ομάδα στην οποία μπορεί να ανήκει.
Ενθουσιασμένος με το νέες του αρμοδιότητες για πρώτη φορά στη ζωή του νιώθει ότι είναι μέρος μιας σημαντικής αποστολής, για την οποία δεν διστάζει να παίζει τον ρόλο του ήρωα και να εκτίθεται σε υψηλά ποσοστά ραδιενέργειας.
Μέλος της ομάδας του είναι και η Κάρολ (Λεά Σεντού), με την οποία ερωτεύονται αμέσως. Μαζί ζουν μια παράνομη ερωτική περιπέτεια, καθώς εκείνη είναι έτοιμη να παντρευτεί έναν άλλον από τους συνεργάτες τους.
Όταν ο Γκάρυ αγγίζει τα επιτρεπτά όρια ραδιενέργειας, αποφασίζει να το κρύψει, από φόβο μήπως τον αποδεσμεύσουν από τα καθήκοντά του, χάνοντας όχι απλώς την δουλειά του, αλλά και την γυναίκα που αγαπά.
