Πρόκειται για ένα εγχείρημα ανοιχτού συμμετοχικού διαλόγου που επιχειρείται για πρώτη φορά στην Ελλάδα.

Η εκπομπή είναι μηνιαία και τον συντονισμό-παρουσίαση έχει ο Περικλής Βασιλόπουλος, δημοσιογράφος, υπεύθυνος του ΚΕΕΠ της ΕΡΤ.

Το ΣΚΕ Αττικής της ΕΡΤ αποτελείται συνολικά από 110 μέλη με ίσο αριθμό εκπροσώπων 55 κοινωνικών φορέων και 55 πολιτών που κληρώθηκαν ανάμεσα σε 2.260 πολίτες, οι οποίοι δήλωσαν συμμετοχή. Τα ΣΚΕ αποτελούν μία καινοτομική πρωτοβουλία που προβλέπεται από το νόμο 4324/15 για τη νέα ΕΡΤ, είναι ανεξάρτητα όργανα με συμβουλευτικό χαρακτήρα και έχουν σκοπό τη βελτίωση της ΕΡΤ υπέρ του δημοσίου συμφέροντος. Αρμόδια υπηρεσία για τη συγκρότηση και λειτουργία τους είναι το Κέντρο Επικοινωνίας και Ενημέρωσης Πολιτών (ΚΕΕΠ) υπό την εποπτεία του Διοικητικού Συμβουλίου της ΕΡΤ.

Περιγραφή επεισοδίου
Στην τρίτη εκπομπή «Πολίτες», δέκα (10) μέλη της Επιτροπής Παιδείας του Συμβουλίου Κοινωνικού Ελέγχου (ΣΚΕ) Αττικής της ΕΡΤ και δέκα (10) φοιτητές, συζητούν με τους: Αντώνη Λιάκο, πρόεδρο Επιτροπής Εθνικού και Κοινωνικού Διαλόγου για την Παιδεία, Νίκο Θεοτοκά, πρόεδρο του Εθνικού Συμβουλίου Παιδείας (ΕΣΥΠ), Θάνο Βερέμη, πρώην πρόεδρο ΕΣΥΠ (2004-2010) και Άννα Μαυρουδή, διευθύνουσα σύμβουλο στο Ίδρυμα Νεολαίας και Διά Βίου Μάθησης, για το ρόλο που μπορεί να παίξει η ΕΡΤ και η Εκπαιδευτική Τηλεόραση στην προώθηση της παιδείας και του πολιτισμού σε συνεργασία με το εκπαιδευτικό σύστημα.

Επίσης, μαθητές υποψήφιοι στις Πανελλήνιες Εξετάσεις απαντούν σε ερωτήσεις για τη χρήση της Νεοελληνικής Γλώσσας στη διδασκαλία και στα κοινωνικά δίκτυα και κάνουν προτάσεις για την ΕΡΤ. Παρουσιάζονται ακόμα, καινοτομικές προτάσεις ευρωπαϊκών δημόσιων τηλεοράσεων και η τηλεόραση των μαθητών για την προώθηση του «Γραμματισμού στα Μέσα» (Media Literacy).
